Cybernetics Conversation

First to say, I’m delighted to be here, all the way from Sydney, Australia.  A series of coincidences dating back to the 1989 World Small Animal Veterinary Association conference in Harrogate brings me here. A Greek veterinarian pressed on me the need to read James Lovelock’s Gaia. Subsequently I heard Prof Lynn Margulis on the radio and by 1992 I’d got considerable insights into much that’s wrong with veterinary science and of medical, dental and biological sciences too. The ideas coalesced on Christmas eve 1992 and I wrote down the Cybernetic Hypothesis of Periodontal Diseases in Mammalian Carnivores (with much implied application across all mammalian species including man).By stroke of amazing good fortune, I submitted a letter to the Journal of Periodontal Research, 'Periodontal Medicine and the Limitations of Linear Causality: Time for a Cybernetic Framework' that was published in May 2026.
